Nursing Jobs Outlook is Bright

Do you know which career field will do more new hiring than any other in the years ahead? If you guessed registered nursing jobs, you’d be correct. If you’re searching for nursing jobs, you need not look far to find more opportunities than you can handle. And good news! The situation for nursing jobs is expected to remain this way until at least the year 2012. Between registered nursing jobs and medical assistant jobs, there is little to hold you back in your career choices!

Why are so many medical institutions searching to fill nursing jobs? Mainly because so many registered nurses are reaching retirement age and this is creating a tremendous employment void. This pool of highly skilled workers needs to be replaced fast. Second, major advancements in medical technology are enabling larger numbers of medical illnesses to be effectively treated, something that requires additional trained personnel. And third, the baby boomer population is entering their “golden years.” Many in this group are expected to live even longer than previous generations, and they simply will require greater medical resources.

Unfortunately, the supply of registered nurses is not keeping up with the demand. This shortage of qualified graduates is what’s causing the vast numbers of open positions for nursing jobs. Universities are falling short of their enrollment goals and administrators are aggressively trying innovative ways to seek out new nursing school applicants. If you’re at a point in your life where you’re either trying to focus on a field of study, or if you’re looking to change career fields completely, you want to make time to research this growing field, especially if you are the type of person who likes to help others.

Once you begin searching for nursing jobs, you’ll see that hospitals are not the only places hiring nurses. In fact, with so much patient care shifting away from in-patient care with longer hospital stays to out-patient care, you’ll notice that the biggest demand for nurses is in day surgery clinics, assisted living facilities and companies that provide in-home health care. And, federal, state and local governments are always hiring nurses to work in schools, in the military, in community settings, and in clinics.

If you’ve got your nursing degree and you like to travel, spend some time searching travel nursing jobs. Instead of being employed by a hospital, traveling nurses are employed by placement agencies that negotiate short-term nursing assignments, typically 13 – 26 week contracts, at medical facilities all over the US and overseas. In addition to top pay, many travel nursing agencies offer their workers corporate-style benefit packages including paid time off, 401K plans and pre-arranged housing. Travel nurses can either select a new assignment at the end of each contract phase, or they oftentimes can opt to extend their current contract. Travel nursing jobs offer flexibility and adventure and best of all, they offer tremendous opportunities!

If you’re searching for nursing jobs, you definitely won’t be searching very long. Your search might take you across town or it could take you across the country. Either way, you’re practically guaranteed to find a nursing job that suits your every need!
